Hi,
Okay, I'm gonna try really really hard to tell you everything I can possibly remember about the last week. (note: this is really really hard).
So last Thursday, we came to the post office and sent an email to our parents. It was fun, the emails were normal and we went on with the rest of our day. We went with the elders in Bu pyeoung (our district) to an "island" right outside of Incheon that Korea just decided to build one day. There wasn't a whole lot to look at but it was cool to just walk around this massive park. There was some slides there (2 slides) that basically were as big as you think the slides at a normal park are when youre a little kid. It was like a big kids park! I hope that made sense. And close to the slides were these big whales in the ground so we took some pictures on them. Missionaries are always looking for cool pictures to send home. And then we went home, and walked around for a few hours and told people about Jesus and the Book of Mormon and stuff. Cool huh?
Friday, (it gets a little harder from here cuz all the days just sort of flow together.) *goes to pull out planner for ideas*
On Friday we had zone conference and sat there for around 7 hours and learned how to be better missionaries. The theme this time around was "Becoming consecrated missionaries." I have more about that that I'll write in a handwritten letter. Then at night we had dinner at the Knudsens (missionary couple) with one of our investigators who actually ended up dropping us shortly after dinner....oh well. Dinner was great!
Saturday, we had our planning meeting...which we usually have on Friday. We just sit there for about 3 hours and talk about what we wanna do during the next week and how we're gonna help all these people we're teaching. Then at night we met with a new investigator who for some reason couldn't understand a thing that I was saying. man that was frustrating.
Sunday, church of course and it was fast and testimony meeting because we had stake conference the week before. It was your normal day of church in Korea...pretty much exactly like it is in America except well...in korean. ( always seems to put a twist on things). Then we were way excited because we had two appts with members with new investigators. Turns out only the members showed up and both of the new investigators not only didn't show up but ignored all of our phone calls. (it's ok, we get used to it). Later that night we knocked some doors and got a new investigator anyways. He's cool and we'll meet him again next week.
Monday, we spent most of the day visiting all our members and giving them a snack called "pepero" Because on Tuesday there's a holiday called pepero day. (apparently the company that makes them decided to make a holiday and give everyone a reason to buy them) (pepepro are these chocolate covered stick things and the date for the holiday is November 11th. (11/11)) so we bought one for each of our members and attached the scripture 3 NE 11:11...clever eh?...we did a lot of walking that night.
Tuesday, was a lot of what Monday was like...cuz of the "holiday". Except in the morning we had district meeting and talked more about how to be better missionaries. (we do that a lot...it's pretty important) Upon giving one of our members the gift, they decided to feed us dinner on the spot..so that was way cool. I love food. Then they gave us a ton of "gyul" which are kinda like mandarin oranges but are a million times more delicious and only in korea between October and January. I LOVE them...almost positive I'm addicted.
Wednesday, (yesterday) we got punked by another new investigator...taught one lesson and had dinner with one of our less-active members....who really needs to stop making excuses and come to church.
Then today is pretty much easy to guess.
So yes, on Monday and Wednesday I did leave out our service activity at the old people house. Monday, we wiped all the floors (cuz on the week before we had wiped them and they said they've never seen them that clean....man they were excited) and then on Wednesday we talked to the old ladies...(Elder Kappas seems to think there's a language barrier there)...
Wow...ok. Christmas shopping is done....I just need to send it now....I think itis gonna be like 30 to send....thatis a problem.
For my christmas...I've decided the easiest thing to do will be to tell everyone to just send me money...and you too. I can't think of anything I want...and the easiest and most fun thing to do is to go out to eat with people. (like Sunny and Hammer and stuff) and I think it would be way cool if I paid once. And just little things from the "moon goo" (office supply store). I'll look for glasses prices.
For college....NC state or UNCC sound cool...I do like dads idea though. In the last tape he mentioned something about a CIA or FBI program....look into that for me and let me know. and maybe even internships at the crime lab in Charlotte.
Ill try to get those addresses. whew....my fingers are tired.
Love you,
Brinton
