Baptisms for the dead
Date: May 22, 2008Area: Boon Dang (분당)
Companion: Elder Gee
Hey,
Wow, so the Heilperns aren't in our ward are they?
The split sounds pretty crazy. I guess I knew it would happen while I was gone though. There's been a lot of growth from what it sounds like. That's so cool that Bruce Major is in the Bishopric. I always looked up to him, he has a powerful testimony and I'll never forget that one week trip the week after we moved to Carolina. The ward sounds pretty small now. I guess it'll be about time to split it by the time I get home again.
So this morning we went to the temple and we got to do baptisms for the dead. I baptized my first 40 people as a missionary. There was a recent convert of Elder Meade's with us and thats why we were able to go do baptisms instead of the endownment. We did it all in Korean so that was pretty cool.
I finally sent a little box the other day with moms mothers day and dads birthday gift in it. I have no idea when it'll finally get there but I hope you like it.
So this week hasn't been bad. It was pretty uneventful as far as big things go. Last sunday we picked up a referral form Utah and they are doing good so far. We've only met with them once and taught most of the first lesson but thats it. I'll let you know how their doing next week. They have a lot of interest though.
Kim Han Oh (김한오) is another one of our investigators and is really smart. Last week when we showed up to our appt. He had bought 4 new bibles in different translations trying to understand it the best he can. He studies them in English and Korean. Lately hes had this stronger desire to really understand what we're teaching. I'm not sure that he'll ever get baptized, but we're able to answer a lot of questions that he's had for a very long time.
So you'll have to let me know HOW the movie is, not WHAT the movie is about. I'm sure it'll be good. There's posters all over the place for it here.
The ward is doing great. I love the members here. No we don't get fed a lot. But don't worry, we have food. Personally I love rice. But there is definately no shortage of meat and what not. I haven't lost a pound since I left home and I think I gained just a couple. But we go to the gym every day and I lift wieghts and run a few kilometers. I'm healthy.
I love you guys and hope you have a great week.
