Hello!
Dad, you never have questions for me anymore. That's alright, I'm just not used to it.
I hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day! Did you get together and BBQ or anything? To be honest I’ve had a pretty bad one. P-day time is precious and a lot of it was wasted today. This morning we went and played two hand touch rugby and probably 20 minutes into playing I tried to pull off a play where I had to sprint from behind the person kicking the ball and try to get the ball before the other team did (he was kicking it right to the other team), well, I went quickly and almost pulled it off, but I did some stupid little jump maneuver and as I came down I (as well as those around) heard a whole bunch of loud cracking noises coming from my ankle. Thankfully it isn't nearly as bad as it sounded and of course I was stupid and due to adrenaline I still didn't want to get off the field. But after I few minutes I decided I better get off it or I would just make it worse. So of course as I let it cool down it began to hurt a little. So anyway, long story short: I sprained my ankle, so that will be annoying. Hopefully it will heal up in just a couple days. I stole a little air cast from the office to hopefully help it heal faster. I haven't taken care of my ankle the one or two other times I have rolled it, so this time I'll try to do a better job. So it ended up being a very less effective P-day.
But, on to more important things:
Tuesday was interviews and exchanges. I went with E. Jensen (my old companion). I don't remember anything amazing sticking out though... Other than the mansion that they live in.
Wed: Some office junk and then out to the area. We had a lesson with the Ellings at a member's home (the Heaps). So the kids were entertained... but still very loud and distracting. So basically the greatest help was that the members could go take care of the kids (which is what we planned on). We had previously left them with Elder Holland’s talk on the Godhead, so we discussed the Holy Ghost some more because Scott didn't quite understand how we view the Holy Ghost. Then we went into the plan of salvation and got through the first half. They had both done their readings and Tawnda had already read half of the True to the Faith booklet we gave them on Sunday. It was great. We also had previously planned for the family to invite them over to FHE on Monday, which they did. So hopefully they should be over there right now!
Thursday was interviews in Citrus Heights and I was on exchanges here.
Fri. was interviews in Antelope and I was on exchanges there. We had an awesome lesson with a lady named Alma that they had just tracted into. We taught her a lesson one and it went great. She was very intent on what we were saying and really liked it. At the end she pointed out to us that her teenage son who had been on the couch behind us had taken his earphones out and listened to the whole thing. He said he really liked it as well. We had a few other good people we talked to as well. It is not as rich of an area and it really is easier to talk to most people.
Sat: back in the area with E. May. We tracted a lot. We had the usual experience of talking to someone who thought they knew about the Book of Mormon but knew nothing about it. It is so frustrating how they are so set upon one simple, misunderstood verse. Or some stupid misconception that someone has told them. But, we love them anyway. We had another guy more our age who asked a ton of questions and we answered them all. You could totally tell he was touched by us talking about eternal marriage too because he shared how just a few days previous he and his fiancé had been talking about how marriage should be more than just "till death to you part". And yet he still wasn't interested. I mean, we talk to people like that all the time. We just simply wish they would be a little more open so they could have the blessings the Gospel would bring into their life.
We also swung by the Ellings and just talked and answered their questions for a while. His questions are really good and it just makes us laugh because there is so much that ties everything together. He wants to learn it though and they are starting to. Tawnda reads almost everyday and we haven't even had a lesson on scripture study yet.
Sun: Church. Elder May was laughing at me after PEC because he said they are afraid to direct comments towards me. It is a sarcastic crowd in there (especially our ward mission leader) and full of at least one Utah joke a week. However, I have become much more assertive with them as of late and established our position as missionaries. I try not to be to overbearing with some remarks, but he was just laughing because I don't put up with their flak. I think the Bishop actually really likes us because of it. He gets a hard time from our WML. Last week I even received some of our progress records back after we had passed them around the ward council. I knew there weren't extras, so I had to kindly, but firmly tell them that what we were giving them was very important and we needed their help. I then passed it back to them. So, just thought I'd share that since Elder May finds it entertaining.
The Ellings were at church. They went out and bought new church clothes for themselves and the kids. Tommy, their 4 yr old, was a handful. He did not want to stay in the pews during Sacrament and then he didn't want to go to Primary. But, everything eventually worked out and I think they were still able to be uplifted and feel the spirit.
We had a chapel tour that night with a couple families in the ward and one of the even brought a friend! yippee! That is the whole point of chapel tours, but we have a hard time getting members to actually bring people.
Then we spent just a few minutes in front of the transfer board. We have many more hours to spend the next couple weeks. The process begins. This is crazy. It is flying by. This is really the last event we have with President Perry. We will do transfers and then everything else (as in meetings) are just on hold until President Pendleton gets here. It is still a month away, but a month that is going to fly by. And then once he gets here I’m sure things will be even more crazy.
Well, another travel log. I love you all. Things are going great. I love the Ellings and am so excited for them. Please keep them in your prayers (I know you already are). They already talk about wanting to come to Utah and see Salt Lake and all that. Awesome! Again, I love you all and hope all is going well.
Love,
Elder Bozung
