Come Follow Me ! 2nd Nephi 31

Date: July 11, 2011
Area: Cauayan City Branch 2 - Assistant to the President
Companion: Elder Bangal

I would love to go on a split with you dad. We could eat at Brother Ed's for breakfast (no Jim's). Maybe Tocinio and a regular beef (You may like the spicy beef) with a fried egg and rice. Then for lunch we could have Jollybees (No Mamma Chu's or Magleby's Fresh and no Tiger cards for buy one take one).

We had a great Saturday. The sister's baptismal candidate joined with the Gamit family. 4 people wearing white.

We had a leadership training meeting last Wednesday where Sister Carlos read to us from 2nd Nephi 31. President pointed out Nephi is getting ready to pass to the other side of the veil. He has said and done a lot, but just before he goes there is one more thing he needs to say and do, that is really important. "Wherefore the things which I have written sufficeth me, save it be a few words which I must speak concerning the doctrine of Christ; wherefore I shall speak unto you plainly, according to the plainness of my prophesying." So he explains clearly the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then come the remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.

The first thing the Savior talks about is the doctrine of baptism when he appears to the people of Nephi and to make sure they got the lesson he addresses it before he leaves. Now that sheds some light on the importance of what occurred Saturday as 4 people followed the example of Jesus Christ and were baptized by one holding the restored priesthood of God. They followed the invitation of Jesus Christ to "Come follow me."

I am grateful for the opportunity to know the Gamit family and have my life blessed as a result. They were confirmed yesterday members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and given the charge to receive the Holy Ghost. That will help guide them to the place their eyes are already focused, the temple. This is really a gospel of happiness. You should have seen them-- beaming.

Before the baptism I got to see Brother Brown. He was going to throw some water in my face. I was contemplating on all the celebrities I have seen over the years at the candy drop. I was sad to miss out on Jimmer.

There is a picture of Elder Dahlin and their baptismal candidate. They had theirs after ours. I thought Brother Brown was taking a picture then it turned out to be a video so you will like that. I was caught like a deer in the headlights or a deer jumping into Rachel's car.

Speaking of being sick mom, we got a phone call one night. It was 1:30 in the morning. Elder Bangal answered the phone. We learned of a missionary that was feeling really sick. We called President and later that morning we went to take him to the hospital. As we were driving we asked him some questions about what was going on. After hearing all these symptoms, there came a silence, and then his companion Elder Sister said, "I told him he should have been taking his Centrum." The only advise wiser than that is, "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine." Two great maxims for living.

Well, I'll let you get back to those probationers and summer vacation activities.

Jesus Christ lives. He stands at the head of this church. His Atonement is a reality.

Have a great week. Love you so much. Thanks for putting up with me.
