Home For Christmas... Amazing Elder's & Sisters In the Cauayan Mission!

Date: September 12, 2011
Area: Cauayan City Branch 2 - Assistant to the President
Companion: Elder Katao

I'll be home for Christmas, you can count on me. Please no snow, OK to have some mistletoe, and CCC's by the tree. From what President showed we leave for Manila on the 14th [of December], followed sometime with a flight from Manila to Tokyo, then Tokyo to Seattle (maybe I'll see Kurt, tell him congrats, and Matt). Then Seattle to SLC, and that's all I've got to say about that.

The new batch of Elders and Sisters sang for us at transfers and it was amazing. They sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." 5 foreigners with the last 2 verses in Tagalog. I was amazed and I think everyone else was to.

Next transfer is in 3 weeks due to the fact that the MTC in Manila will be closed for a few weeks in October. So they are sending us a batch of Elders and Sisters September 28. That will be a 9 week cycle.

Ryan Gamit was the first speaker Sunday. He spoke on courage. He mentioned the stripling warriors and he quoted from President Monson how when we are on the Lord's errand, we are entitled to the Lord's help.
Brother Fredrick Peralta has his mission call to the Quezon City Mission. His home ward is in branch 2, but he helps both branch 1 and branch 2 missionaries. He did a cycle as a part time missionary. Both of his parents have passed away, and him and another brother are the only members. He is the one who referred the Gamit family.

I was thinking of him, and thinking of many of the Elders and Sisters here in the Philippines Cauayan Mission. There are many who have grown up in the church, and many who have been members for only a few years before packing their bags and coming to serve.
The MTC in the Philippines is closed because they are moving into the newly completed and larger MTC.

As I look around there is little doubt that the best is yet to come.

We had a Family Home Evening at the Manipon family residence. We talked about staying close to the Lord. We played do as I'm doing.

Well, I'll let you go. Have a great week.

Love you.

--Elder Hale
