Valorie and I working on the Christmas project....

Sister Carlos,

We know that your focus is on our missionaries and their welfare.
Sue and I wanted to let you know that we so enjoyed getting together and sewing pillow cases.
We have the pillow cases done.  We are still working on collecting testimonies for the Christmas cards we are sending for each of the missionaries in your mission.
We would like to make a bookmark.  Is there a scripture or quote you would like us to use on the bookmark?

This morning as I was studying and pondering I thought of the Hymn "Firm as the Mountains Around Us" This thought made me think of you during this storm.
Thank you for being positive and firm in your testimony of the gospel.  Not once have I worried during this storm.  I know that the Lord will guide you and the President.  I can see how this challenge will be a blessing to the people in your mission.  I know your missionaries will be a source of much comfort and love.
I am also sending a Picture.  Just to let you know both of our husbands helped.  Bro. Irv Hale turned the pillow cases and trimmed the threads.  Bro. Doug Dahlin did the ironing.  We had a wonderful time sharing with each other.

We send you and President our love and concern,

The Dahlins and Hales

Valorie Dahlin and I are working on a few things for Christmas.... Sister Carlos replied with this........

Sister Dahlin,

THanks for the wonderful update. I am curious how was it that you got together when you live several states apart? Who traveled where? I can just see the four of you working like beavers to get these all done. Please give our love and appreciation to the Hales as well! I know the missionaries will appreciate this gift of love and I know that you will remember being Christmas Elves in 2010. I'm sure you've sparked a friendship that will transcend your son's missions.

Elder Dahlin is serving in the part of the mission that was least affected by the Typhoon, from what we heard it was just a little windy and rainy there. We will be visiting his area on Tuesday. We always enjoy seeing Elder Dahlin--he is always so upbeat and positive!

Elder Hale's area was harder hit. We dropped by his apt. the other day to check on him. He and his companion were out working so we left them a note. Most of his zone is still without power--we think he has it, but not sure. We will be visiting Elder Hale's zone meetings on Wednesday and so we'll get to know more about his apartment then.

They are predicting another super typhoon to hit this next week. We are praying fervently that its path will be diverted, we can't imagine these people having to deal with another one so close. Some of our landlords are refusing to fix the apartments until they see if that one does more damage--so our missionaries are in limbo.

In our Christmas Zone Conference we will be focusing on Christ and that is when we would give out the bookmarks, so maybe something like 2 Nephi 25:26 (Even part of the scripture) And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ...that our children may look for a remission of their sins." If you have one that is important to you, please feel free to select any scripture about Christ.

Thanks again, we so appreciate your kindness, as well as your time and efforts!

Love to you,

Sister Carlos
