Oi minha Mãe! (Mom)- I ai meu Pai!-(Dad) Whatīs up bro?? Hey poo head.
How are you guys?!? Wow, another awesome week!! That was a fast one too! Dang! But first, before I say anything at all, I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!!! Dang, thatīs kind of a lame present eh? That little thing right there, haha. Sorry, Iīm just a poor missionary! But dad! I hope you have the best birthday ever! I wrote you a separate email, I really hope you get it, and also recorded you a voice clip earlier today, so I REALLY hope you get both- It seems like you havenīt gotten everything Iīve written to you- Iīve been writing you every week, and I tried again today, but Iīm not sure if that worked either I was WAY bummed to hear that you havenīt been getting all my stuff DANG IT. But anyway, I have to say that first! So next week just let me know if you get them, ok? Love you dad, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Pois é, I hope everything is still going well with you!
Haha, Leah, I loved your part of the email! I donīt know any of those kids they better be cool!
Anyway, mom Iīm SO glad you got to go to conference! I watched so closely for you guys every time the camera showed the audience too, but I didnīt see you! OH MY GOSH. Conference is the best thing in the world. Ok, so hereīs how we had to do it- We took a van to this awesome chapel! Thatīs it, haha, I expected to be able to say more about the process when I said that, but I canīt. Seriously though, it was the best! The chapel there is AMAZING! Itīs two stories, and it has an elevator! Thereīs just one thing, that Iīm still disappointed about we had to watch it in Portuguese. Dang huh! I still canīt understand everything, and the translations are way way fast sometimes. So, I wonīt be able to get the full blow of amazingness from this session until the talks come out in the ensign, and I cannot wait! My favorites were Elder Bednarīs and Elder Perryīs- partly because those were the only ones I fully understood haha! The translations of their talks were slow and clear so it was better. Still though with the translation, you lose a lot of what is said through the translation alone, and also they donīt translate everything they say either. So in that aspect, I wish it couldīve been different, and a little more English, but there were other things that compensated for this.:)
Oh my gosh, the choirs. I LOVED the choirs this conference session!! Of course my favorite was the children's choir, from none other than Kaysville!!!! As soon as they announced them, and then said they were from Kaysville and Fruit Heights, I turned around and said (Maybe a little too loud) Thatīs my city!! My city! I know them! I know them! Haha, Kind of like in Elf the movie when Will Ferrill freaks out because Santa is coming! It was SO good! Elder Clark and I both cried as soon as they sang, it was just so cool and SO so good, Iīm so glad they did that. I didnīt see anyone I recognized though, I was looking so hard too! Also the missionary choir at priesthood was AMAZING! It was so cool to watch them, but again I didnīt see anyone I knew! Itīs ok though, I felt SO close to you guys the entire time anyway. Besides feeling the immense joy knowing that you guys were watching the exact same thing, singing the songs, and sitting there loving it as much as I was, I got to feel the joy of bringing our investigators with us, watching them as they saw the Prophet for the first time in their lives!
Sorry this week Iīve kind of got to be brief- with sending the voice things and trying to figure it all out and everything anyway, so Sunday- We got to go watch priesthood really early in the morning, and after I got to just relax and play the piano and just enjoy the day, and then we had lunch, and after that we were going to get our investigators and come back for the first Sunday session! After lunch, we started walking around the city to get our investigators! The first one we invited- Irmã Dala, wasnīt able to go (or so she said) so we were like, Dang! And walked on to the next one! We walked to his house, and again he couldnīt come because he got called to do this voting thing. Again we talked to the next one, and she said she couldnīt come either! To make a very long, hot, and then mega rainy wet story short, this pattern went on until we got to our last personīs house. We got to his house, and his mom came to the door and said that he didnīt want to hear us that day. Well of course this is unacceptable, so we had to make sure he wasnīt going to run away and try and make a break for it. We came there to bring people with us to conference, and that was what we were going to do. Elder Clark went to the back yard and he said You stay here and donīt let him out! haha, I felt more like law enforcement than a missionary! I wanted him to come so bad though! Anyway, he came out and we conviced him to come after he showered really quick. Really quick for him though is around one hour, so to make another long story short, we got to the chapel again soaking wet and almost an hour late! Haha, so I missed almost all of that session, but it was so cool to have him there and be able to say, Hey man that guy right there is the prophet today. And then see him go, Woah, really?
Oh man, I have to hurry, Iīm sorry this is so short!! After all that, the voice things didnīt work!!! Man!! So next week weīll go to a different place and see if it works there! Man Iīm sorry! And now this is so short, and I wanted to tell you something really cool still! Ok so fast forward a lot- we were back getting someone to come to the next session, and Elder Clark thought we needed to go give this one guy a blessing. We had given his grandma a blessing earlier that week because she was really sick. He is a returned missionary and the only member of the church in his family. Earlier that week we were over there, and his grandma was laying in a hammock in the other room, moaning really loud, and he asked us to give her a blessing. As soon as Elder Clark started, her moaning stopped and she was calm. She looked so far away in her eyes though I didnīt think she had much more time. So anyway, he thought that we needed to go give the man I mentioned earlier a blessing. We went over there to find him really down and sad, with his grandpa, and the old woman had died that day (this is all yesterday, between sessions). We told him we were there to give him a blessing, and he looked so happy and relieved. The thing is though, is that I had to give him the blessing! I felt a little overwhelmed- like I had once before- but as before I reminded myself that it wouldnīt be me! We laid our hands on his head and gave him a blessing, and it all just felt so calm, and so much happier! Ah, it was a really interesting experience, one that Iīll always remember!
Anyway, this guy just came up to me and told me that this place is closing in 5 minutes!! Iīm sorry, I wish this was longer and that I couldīve said everything!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I hope this was enough, and that you have the best week ever!! Love you!!!
Love, Elder Lunt!
