Building bridges, cruising in the dark, just like the old days

It'll be nice to see Paul again. It sounds like he had a great mission. No reason for him not to. I did get an e-mail from Jessica. She sent me some pictures of baby Luke. He looks like a cool guy.
This week we found a place that is in desperate need of a bridge. There used to be one but it got washed away by some floods. So right now we're working with the humanitarians of the church to come and fund a project to build a bridge for this village. And that led us to a great family. The Local Chairman of the area has to approve the project and it just so happens that his family is very prepared for the gospel. So we'll definitely be building bridges.
We were walking around late one night on a dark back path. It was dark enough that we couldn't see a thing and it just so happened that the phone I have right now has a small flashlight on it. So I was using it, as weak as it is. And all of the sudden this tiny like thing appears right in front of me and I almost walk right into it. I shined the light down at it and it looked right up at me,. It was a small child just old enough to walk. There wasn't a house for 20 meters. So we quickly escorted him to his home. The weird thing is that he didn't have one ounce of fear in his face. He was just out cruising the paths in the dark.
My new companion has some struggles with sleep. He tends to fall asleep while we're teaching lessons to people. Not too much, but every other day. When we finished our lesson with one of our progressing investigators, I told him that I committed her to baptism while he was sleeping. He was so happy. He couldn't believe it. "She really committed to baptism?" "Yea she did, you missed it." I was doing it in a joking manner, but I forgot to tell him that I was joking. That night while we were praying, he thanked God that she committed to baptism. I almost started laughing out loud. But I let him know. He thought it was funny. We've been working pretty well together. Too bad we won't have another transfer together.
One morning we went out to buy some small things to cook. It's about a mile walk there and back. I figured I should wea my shoes, but I didn't feel like putting on my socks. So I slipped on my shoes and off I went. After about a few hundred yards, I felt something on the top of my foot like moving around. I took my shoe really quick and shook out a cockroach about the size of my thumb. Yes, we have a serious cockroach problem in this house. Just like the olds of Walukuba.
Sounds like we'll be on the taxis. You're going to love it. You haven't experienced Uganda until you've been on the taxis. Trust me. But I'll still look into the shuttle for getting you from the airport.
If you want to do some missionary work here, we can squeeze some in on the 29th if you're not too tired. Try and find out how much luggage you can take. I'll probably be sending a lot of my stuff home in your luggage. I'm not sure what American Airlines allows.
Thanks for the work and grace stuff. I just did that lesson two days ago. The Pentecostals are pretty big here. They love that stuff. They're all saved! I just ask them about Matthew 24:13. And of course James. They play along and say that I’m right, and then bring up grace again, They contradict themselves and don't realize it. It's hard teaching uneducated people sometimes.
See you soon.
