How's there? & Christmas

"How's there?" -That's the new phrase I've adapted in greeting people. I was very confused when people would ask me that at first. "How's where?" I think they just refer to the place you've just come from. (i.e. town, market, home, etc.) I used to think they were talking about the U.S. for some reason. But the only response acceptable is "fine." Even if it isn't, you say "fine." "How's there?" -"Fine. How are you?" -"Fine." But little things like that are becoming natural.
We had a guy from the US come to our ward yesterday and give a talk. He was here from some sort of business trip from New York or something... But while he was giving his talk it almost made me dizzy with the way he spoke. Now I know how I sounded when I came.
Christmas here is celebrated. Not quite to he extent that we do. Mainly just because of money. No one has money. I'm a little curious myself to see the average Christmas here. I haven't heard much talk about Santa or seen any decorations. Last night at the one shop I stopped at for a pineapple I saw a banner that said "Merry Christmas." It was old and falling apart, but it was nice. I got that feeling you get when you see the first holiday decoration of the year.
