Teaching in church
Date: December 18, 2006
Area: Seeta Companion: Elder Mabundu
We just had a baptism on Sunday. It was nice! The font was a big tank outside the "chapel" that looks much like a trash dumpster. There are no hoses, so we had to fill it on Saturday with things that look like gas containers they call "jerry-cans". It took about 3-4 hours. We had to keep walking back and forth from the water tap. We'll be doing it again this Saturday.
I really like the branch here. It's small so every one knows each other very well. Very welcoming to a new missionary! Our branch president is a returned missionary, and our branch mission leader is preparing to leave for his mission, so they both work with us a lot.
I was able to give a last minute talk at the baptism because the person who was supposed to just kind of disappeared. I kind of surprised myself with my ability to recite scriptures, articles of faith, prophets - just as Jesus taught in St. John 14:26. I also taught a Gospel Principles class with the first counselor of the district presidency, the branch president, and high councilman. Unprepared obviously... But it just seemed to all come out so easily. I was given many compliments after class. I can really see the blessings come as I diligently study each and every day.
