Chance encounter

Three Elders are going to Ethiopia. Lukhele, Johnston, and Tuahlane. I came from MTC with Lukhele and Johnston. Actually Johnston was the very first person I met up with at the LAX. So we'll miss them. Chances are they'll die there. (Finish their missions there). I'm not sure if they'll be sending two more or not. There used to be 8, but adding three will only make 6. So I don't know.

We had another baptism on Sunday. It took three tries to get her all the way under. I was one of the witnesses. She was just really scared to go under. I thought the second time was going to make it, but at the last second her left hand came flying up out of the water. It's not that big of a deal, I just don't like it when everyone starts laughing. Third time's a charm though.

Last night we were coming home late and we were going to take our usual short cut through a back trail. As we were coming to the trail where it slopes up, this guy came flying down almost falling off the edge into the main road. My companion asked him if everything was alright. As he was holding his throat he said, "Those guys up there are trying to kill me." I guess some guys tried to jump him, but he got away. I said, "Well I guess we won't go that way tonight. Thanks." And then of course we invited him to church. It was weird how casual it all happened. The guy was even smiling as he said good night. The way me and my companion looked at it was that if we had not contacted this last lady in the dark and spoke with her for 5-10 min. like we did, we would have been the ones walking up that trail getting jumped. Good thing we talked to that lady. It was so dark I couldn't even see her face, so even if I see her again, I won't know it's her.
