Testimony meeting, uniting famlies in baptism

Date: April 07, 2008
Area: Nsambya
Companion: Elder Soko

Yesterday we had a pretty good Sunday. Again the attendance was over 100. People were fighting to get up and bear testimony. We had twelve of our investigators come. All nine of our baptismal dates came which is very good. And two of the investigator families that we were teaching came. This Sunday we will have five baptisms for our area and the other Elders will have two. It's going to be a long baptismal service this coming Sunday. And then another long one the week after when we have four more of our investigators being baptized.

We're currently uniting three families in the church. Keny Armstrong's family, Ben Lokweia's family, and James Okello's family. Keny and Ben are cousins, and James is the nephew of Keny. It'll make a great picture. We're also teaching Morgan Alyz's family who are neighbors to Keny Armstrong. If you think about it, we'll be baptizing four families or about thirteen people, all from one contact: Keny Armstrong. We met him last November late at night on a dark road. We were contacting a lot of people that day because in the morning we had a zone conference where our mission president told us to get more contacts. He rose the standard from 12 new contacts everyday to 20. Due to the zone conference that day, we didn't have much proselyting time, but we worked hard to put the new standard into effect. It ended up that Keny Armstrong was contact number eighteen that night. Is the success we're having from our own talents and abilities? I must humbly say No. Just be obedient and follow your leaders faithfully.

I'm glad you met Mary Balyjusa. Her family is powerful. You'll meet them when you come! I remember she was kind of crying the day at church when I announced I was leaving the Entebbe branch. I always assumed there was something wrong that I didn't know about. She never told anyone why she was crying that day. Looking back, I have a feeling it might have actually been because I was leaving. But I don't know...

I'm looking forward to watching conference. We'll watch it at Kololo on the April 27th. That is, if the DVDs get here by then. But that's the appointed day.

Thanks for the birthday money. Thanks for everything else. BYE.
