Brevity - the sign of a missionary soon to be coming home
Date: May 05, 2008
Area: Kololo Companion: Elder Ray
I've learned how to drive stick shift serving a mission in Uganda. You just learn so much as a missionary. I've had a few embarrassing moments of course, but I've picked it up pretty quick. Day one involved us driving around the mission helping the assistants conduct the transfers. Day two was with the new Elders at the mission home with their trainers. And yesterday Elder Ray and I really started to get down to the details of how we're going to accomplish our assignment. President Christensen is out of the country for the next few weeks for seminars in South Africa, so we're just kind of on our own. I think we've got everything figured out though.
You might want to look at Serena Hotel here in Kampala. I'm pretty sure it's the most expensive and probably the nicest as well. I think we can probably stay the last night in Jinja at Nile Resort. It's a four star hotel right on the Nile. A five minute walk away from the bungee jump.
As far as the phone call, I think Dallan told me that he was thinking about doing his call on Monday since it was his P-Day and so that it wouldn't interfere with my call. Either way it's cool with me. My number is XXXXX. The code is 256. So when you call it might look like this, +256-XXXXXX. (Putting the code instead of the zero) It would be nice if you called me about 8:00 p.m. my time. Elder Ray will be doing his call in the morning.
Also I'm going to talk to Fred Kitimbo here in the office about getting you and Ben hooked up with those visas. He's the one that takes care of all that stuff here. So I think he should be able to make the whole process a little easier. I'll let you know...
Have a good week.
